Teaching Philosophies

 

Not any two persons are identical, different teaching material combinations will be offered depending on students' age, level, ability and goal differences.  In my teaching, I emphasize a lot on EAR TRA​INING, PROBLEM SOLVING, CHARACTER BUILDING and ENSEMBLESHIP.

Ear Training - All the techniques are built to serve the music. Young musicians constantly focus fully on what they could see on the music and their instruments, they close their ears.  In my course, I spend time for ear training by signing and music appreciation. Intonation, sound quality and musical expressions are formed in your head before carrying them all out from your violin

Problem Solving - With busy schedules of kids nowadays, limited practicing time is very common. With focusing on certain spots and problem solving skills, your practicing efficiency will improve tremendously

Character Building - Music is a special language that opens up our feelings without words. Even with the same piece of music, the interpretations could be very different based on the performers’ understandings and feelings.  I strongly encourage my students to express and define their own characters through music making

Ensembleship - chamber music can be any violin duets, string quartets, school orchestras, to youth symphonies. The ability of playing in chamber music will not only bring you the joy of playing in groups, it will also magically develops your ability of listening, corresponding and collaboration. This unique technique will help young kids to open up their social circle from a new spectrum
